Faithfulness

Scripture:

Matthew 25:21,”His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

The harvest is plenty, hence God is in search of laborers that will plow the field for the end time. However, how far we go and the nature of the assignment we handle depends largely on us not God. If we are faithful in the little he commits, he will entrust us with more; it doesn’t stop there, there are always spiritual vacancies to fill because of unfaithfulness or glorification of the saints. In some cases, like that of Elijah he cowered to intimidation from Jezebel ushering in the ministry of Elisha. There is a lot of work to be done but the question is, who can God trust?

David and Moses were exemplary leaders whose names still speak loud in their deaths- there’s a unique quality they had that made them rise to the top amongst their peers. Both were faithful with the little God committed into their hands leading to their elevation. David was a good shepherd who took care of the sheeps insomuch, when a lion and a bear came to feast on them, he fought them and rescued the sheep. That must have gotten the attention of God in no small measure- the ability to put his life at risk to protect his flocks as a teenager made God entrust him with a nation. I perceive God must have said to himself, “If he can put himself in harms way to protect animals, he will do more to protect human lives.”

The same thing can be said with Moses- he was on exile in Midian as a Shepherd for 40 years under Jethro his father in law when God called him to lead a nation out of captivity. I don’t think its a coincidence David and Moses were shepherds; it takes a high level of patience and dedication to lead sheeps. It infers God expects us to grow and bear fruit to be able to handle bigger tasks because character is the determinant of success in every endeavor.

Let’s learn to be faithful in whatsoever God has entrusted in our hands for he that is faithful in little will be entrusted with much.
