Your words carry Power

Scripture:

Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. ”

When God speaks everything hears and obeys- In the book of Genesis, God spoke forth plants, animals and even light. The only thing God does is to speak- he establishes his will by opening his mouth to call forth things. We’re created in the same image and likeness as God, hence we have the same capacity as the creator of the universe through spoken words (Genesis 1:1-26). Let me share a personal experience with you.

About 10 years ago with very little or no knowledge about the power of words or confessions,  i had an experience that would change my live forever- our dog ran out of the compound, I tried in vain to get him back into the compound. The more I tried, the more he dribbled me around the premises. I got angry and said to him, “you will die the way your mother died”( A vehicle knocked down the mother); immediately, I uttered those words, the dog began charging down the street. I turned, shut the gate and began walking down to the living room-however, I had a check in my spirit to go and look for the dog; I turned back and began looking for the dog in the estate- I didn’t see him, so I extended the search down the street to the highway, where I saw him lying helplessly in severe pains due to injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident.

I couldn’t believe what was happening, I ran back to the house, got the car keys and called my younger sister who left with me in a hurry to get the dog. We zoomed off to town to look for a veterinary doctor- it was too late to get one, so we returned home with the dog. I remember crying that night because of  everything that happened, i was also scared the dog was going to die. My uncle tried to console me by telling me he will survive till the morning when we’ll be able to get him down to the vet.  The next morning, i came out to see the dead dog.

It was a sad experience, however I learnt some vital lessons about the power of words. Indeed, death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). I also understood that the word is indeed spirit and life (John6:63) as Jesus said because immediately i uttered those negative words, a force moved upon the dog and led him to his untimely death. Lastly, years later when I came across how God spoke to a fish in Jonah 2:10, “And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. ”  i didn’t have a problem believing or understanding what took place.

Lets endeavor to speak positive words to our situations and use negative words to destroy the works of darkness for death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Good morning
