2 Corinthians 4:17, “For our light affliction, which is for the moment, worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory.”

We go through trials and tribulations irrespective of the finished works of Christ. The devil is defeated but he’s not dead, hence he will continue to wage war against the believer until the coming of the lord. I have had my fair share of challenges in life.

During my undergraduate days, I passed through the fire to say the least. To put it mildly, nothing seemed to be working in my life, I couldn’t see any progress in my endeavors. I was fed up with everything and was angry with God because I felt he was doing nothing in my life. Depression took over, things became worse hence, I resorted to try my hands on another religion because I felt God had failed me.

I called one of my friends and told him about my plans to try something new- he laughed and must have felt I was going crazy. He said to me, “Guy Abeg I take God beg you, no try am”. I told him what was happening, he encouraged me and I felt better. Though things didn’t change i went back to God, apologized for my actions and asked for his help.

Gradually things began to get better and I began to pray fervently. After a while, depression became a thing of the past and things improved. There are things I learnt from that experience which are invaluable and could be of help to you.

1. The devil wants to depress you so that he can oppress you. Depression is a spirit beloveth- the bible says in Isaiah 61:3, “to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…”  The Spirit of heaviness is responsible for depression and praise is a key to keeping him off your life because the lord inhabits the praises of his people. Where God dwells no stupid devil can come near.

2. Godly counsel- The bible says in Proverbs 27:17, “Iron sharpeneth iron; So a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” You don’t need stupid friends like that of Job and Solomon but friends who add value to you.

3. Challenges doesn’t mean God has gone on vacation- he doesn’t sleep or slumber, he’s sitted on the throne with all glory and splendor- you’re his beloved, the apple of his eyes.

4. You will overcome- The bible says in  Isaiah 43:2-3 “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am Jehovah thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour; I have given Egypt as thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in thy stead. ”

Good morning friends
