Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations (Jeremiah 1:5)

I consider the second pillar of your destiny your Purpose, which can simply be defined as the reason for a thing. You need to discover your purpose in life to achieve greatness. God created you for a specific purpose on earth. Your purpose is not your decision; God made it clear to Jeremiah he was ordained as a prophet even before he was born. Your purpose can also be described as your Assignment.

Sequel to the last post, Your purpose is the reason for your gift. Your Assignment in life is the reason for your makeup. A lot of people are frustrated today because they are not working on their God given assignment. Peter was a fisherman who felt he was doing the right thing until frustration knocked on his door. His Assignment was to fish for souls not for fishes, hence dejection came because he was out of place. No matter how long you do the wrong thing, it will never make it right.

Another example is Apostle Paul, as Saul he went on a frenzy persecuting Christians with so much vigour and passion. Indeed he had a powerful drive deposited in his system courtesy of his assignment but he was doing the wrong thing until Jesus rescued him.

Your Assignment in life could come in different ways, it could manifest via a crisis because you,re born to solve a problem. Esther found herself at the center of a crisis which threatened to exterminate her people. A very remarkable statement was made by Mordecai to Esther in Esther 4:14,” For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” God has put you in that position for a specific purpose, you may not like where you were born but it’s for a purpose. God took Esther to the palace to save the Jewish nation from extermination. It is also worthy to mention that if you don’t do your work God can have you replaced as he did with Elijah. Elijah ran for his life to the cave because of Jezebel; God visited him in the cave and asked him what he was doing there because he was supposed to be working not hiding. God told him to go and anoint Elisha in his place.

You are not sent to everyone hence everyone will not appreciate you. Jesus Christ was not appreciated in his hometown so he went to Capernaum. Moses was sent to the Israelites, Joshua was Assigned to Moses, Peter was sent to the Jews and Paul was sent to the Gentiles. Every time Paul went to the Jews he regretted it because he wasn’t sent to them.

Whose pain do you feel? Moses saw an Egyptian fighting his kinsman, he joined the fight. What gets you angry? There is no healing evangelist that loves sickness, neither will you find any deliverer like Moses cuddling oppression. What are you passionate about? Jeremiah couldn’t help but preach the gospel. What do you love? God gave us Jesus because of his love for the world.

All the challenges you’ve gone through and the ones you are facing right now is because of your purpose. Your assignment requires training; God will take you through so many challenges to equip you for your Assignment in life. Your Assignment will unfold in stages, it won’t be revealed in a lump. Jesus Christ went through 30 years of training for 3 years of ministry, Moses received training for 40 years under Jethro for 40 years of ministry,Jerry Savelle was a protege of kenneth copeland for several years just like other ministers and artisans trained under a mentor for knowledge. That’s the same reason we go to school to be trained and equipped in our respective professions.

If you need any clarification and insight about your purpose, get on your knees and ask the creator he will tell you. I will be talking about the Holy Spirit in the next post. Shalom
